Perhaps the most basic way you can get motivated is by power music. I’m pretty sure by now you have a music player in some form. And if you don’t have one, get one. They’re cheap, easy to use, and even a 2GB memory card can fit more than 200 power songs for your playlist.

Find the songs and music tracks that fill you with energy. These are the songs that inspire you, make you feel good, and encourage you to go the extra mile. Don’t be embarrassed if songs like “Eye Of The Tiger” or the Rocky theme gets you going — that’s what headphones are for.

Apps To Keep Track

Music players are great. Smartphones are fantastic. A smartphone opens you up to vast markets of apps that can help you stay on track with your fitness goals. And now you can journal in style — instead of scribbling on a worn-out notepad, you can just whip out your smartphone and enjoy the stares you get at the gym.

Many of these apps are free, and they help you keep track of the meals you eat, the food products you buy, the calories you take in and burn, and the exercises you do. Some apps, like the Nike Training Club, also helps you zoom into the right exercises for your current fitness situation.

Inspirational Talks/Videos To Pick You Up

Sometimes, you may feel no motivation at all at the moment. What should you do? Some people go to the gym, log in a couple of hours, and then stumble onto the finish line, exhausted. Me? I’d much rather take a half-hour to tune in to an inspirational talk, video, or podcast to pick me up.

Find talks/videos/podcasts from your favorite trainers and speakers, and mix them up in your playlist. A half-hour talk can make the remaining hour-and-a-half in the gym even MORE productive.
